An angular cone of visibility of a sensor on a spacecraft. For example, the IFOV for the advanced very high-resolution radiometer (AVHRR) carried on Polar-Orbiting Environmental Satellites (POEs) of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, is 1.4 milliradians. The IFOV determines the area of the Earth's surface scanned at any given time from a certain altitude. The area's size is found by multiplying the IFOV by the distance from the sensor to the Earth.
