Techniques used to reduce the blur in an image that results from small camera movements while the shutter is open or the photoelectric sensor is operating. One benefit of this is that it permits the use of slower shutter/sensor speeds for the same quality of captured image. Some techniques are optical and work by the use of vibration sensors and the physical manipulation of the camera lens; others post-process the captured digital image.
