A neutrino detector under the ice of Antarctica that replaced AMANDA in the first decade of the 21st century. The purpose is to observe very high-energy neutrinos, as these are of interest in both astrophysics and the theory of elementary particles. The experiment has detected neutrinos from beyond the solar system.
