In remote sensing, the line which runs at 45° on a plot of digital number values of red wavelengths of light against digital number values of very-near infrared wavelengths of light. Soils plot very close to this line, vegetation plots away from this line having a higher tendency to reflect very-near infrared. See also vegetation index.
