Invaders, probably from Palestine, who ruled Lower Egypt and part of Upper Egypt from c.1674 bc. Their power lasted until c.1550 bc, when they were overthrown by a rebellion started by the Egyptians of Thebes. The introduction of the horse and chariot was attributed to them. Egyptian remained the official language.
