The passage of the shadow of a satellite across the face of a planet. Shadows of the Galilean satellites of Jupiter, and of Titan on Saturn, are the only ones large enough to be visible through most Earth-based telescopes, although shadow transits of Rhea, and even of Tethys, Dione, and Iapetus, can be seen in large telescopes under good conditions.
