A process used to remove acid gases from hydrocarbon gas streams by absorption in polyethylene glycol dimethyl ether (DMPEG). The process is used to remove or reduce the level of hydrogen sulphide, carbon dioxide and carbonyl sulphide, and other organic sulphur compounds such as mercaptans from gases such as natural gas. It involves gas absorption under pressure with the solvent in which the gas is contacted counter currently in an absorption column with the solvent. The solvent is regenerated by flashing or stripping.
