Asteroid 2340, a member of the Aten group, discovered in 1976 by the American astronomer Charles Thomas Kowal (1940–2011). It is of T type and its diameter is 300 m. Hathor can approach to within 0.007 au (900 000 km) of the Earth’s orbit. Its orbit has a semimajor axis of 0.844 au, period 0.78 years, perihelion 0.46 au, aphelion 1.22 au, and inclination 5°.9.
