A rule stating that the ratio of the normal boiling point to the critical temperature of a substance is equal to a value of 2/3. It was proposed in 1890 by Norwegian chemist Cato Maximilian Guldberg (1836–1902). For simple molecules containing one or two atoms and discounting hydrogen atoms present, the ratio is 0.567, while for other inorganic molecules the ratio is 0.635.
