An association of 20 of the world’s largest industrial and emerging powers. Formed in 1999 to extend the concept of the Group of 8 beyond the established industrial nations, its members are Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, the EU, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Turkey, the UK, and the USA. It came to prominence in 2008 when a special meeting was called to discuss a coordinated international response to the Credit Crunch.
