An object classified as a periodic comet in 1949 when discovered by the American astronomers Albert George Wilson (1918–2012) and Robert George Harrington (1904–87) but subsequently found to be identical to asteroid 4015 discovered in 1979. This was the first evidence of a comet evolving into an asteroid-like body. Asteroid 4015 is a member of the Apollo group, and has a diameter of about 4 km. It can approach to almost 0.044 au (6.5 million km) of the Earth’s orbit. Its orbit has a semimajor axis of 2.64 au, period 4.28 years, perihelion 0.98 au, aphelion 4.29 au, and inclination 2°.8.
