A satellite launched by NASA on 20 April 2004 to test German-born US physicist Albert Einstein's general theory of relativity. Developed by physicists and engineers at NASA and Stanford University, California, the probe measured minute changes in the direction of spin of four gyroscopes carried on board and confirmed two key predictions derived from Albert Einstein’s general theory of relativity: that Earth warps space and time and that its rotation pulls space-time around with it. The mission ended one-and-a-half years later in 2005.
