It is the attraction between two bodies of unit mass at unit distance apart. Its value is 6.674 08 × 10−11 N m²/kg² when the distance is expressed in metres and the masses are in kilograms. Although it is described as a constant, in some models of the Universe G decreases with time as the Universe expands (see Brans–Dicke theory), but there is no evidence for this. Geology and Earth Sciences The constant of proportionality relating the gravitational force (F) between two masses (m₁ and m₂) separated by a distance r. F = Gm₁m₂/r². The value of G is 6.672 × 10¹¹ Nm²/kg².
