单词 gravitational acceleration
释义
gravitational acceleration

Astronomy
  • See acceleration of free fall.

Chemical Engineering
  • The attractive force towards the centre of the Earth that causes an acceleration of a falling body. That is, there is a change in velocity with time. Within a vacuum, the gravitational acceleration is equal to 9.806 65 m s−2. The variation of gravity over the Earth’s surface is negligible for most engineering work. See gravity.

Geology and Earth Sciences
  • Following Newton’s law, the force F between two masses m1 and m2, separated by a distance r, is given by F = Gm1m2/r2, where G is the gravitational constant. The gravitational acceleration, g, is then given by g = F/m1 = Gm2/r2 and is measured in gravity units.
