Rubin obtained his AB in psychology at Princeton U (1965) and then moved to Harvard U obtaining his MS in computer science in 1966 and his PhD in statistics (supervised by Cochran) in 1970. After eleven years at the Educational Testing service at Princeton and two years on the faculty at U Chicago, he returned to Harvard U. He is a member of the AAAS. He was the winner of the Wilks Award of the ASA in 1995 and the Parzen Prize in 1996. He was the COPSS Fisher Lecturer in 2004.
