A plant belong to the genus Rosa (family Rosaceae) of deciduous shrubs and climbers, most with prickles, that bear large, showy, solitary flowers, often perfumed. The fruit (rosehip) is a berry-like aggregate of achenes, or in some species a drupe, drupelet, capsule, or follicle. There are 90 genera of 2520 species, and many varieties, mostly hybrids, cultivated for ornament and for rose oil, used to make perfume.
