A series of five weather and environmental satellites in geostationary orbit at 140°E, and Japan’s first such national series, operated by the Japanese Meteorological Agency (JMO) and Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). The satellites were launched on 14 July 1977 (removed to orbit on 26 January 2001), 11 August 1981, 3 August 1984, 6 September 1989, and 18 March 1995, from the Tanegashima Space Center, Japan.
