单词 geodesy
释义
geodesy

Physics
  • The science concerned with surveying and mapping the earth’s surface to determine, for example, its exact size, shape, and gravitational field. The information supplied by geodesy in the form of locations, distances, directions, elevations, and gravity information is of use in civil engineering, navigation, geophysics, and geography.

Astronomy
  • The study of the shape and dimensions of the Earth, or any other solid planetary body.

Geology and Earth Sciences
  • The science of measurement of the shape or figure of the Earth and its gravitational field. This science has expanded from topographic and astronomic surveying with the advent of satellite positioning systems, e.g. GPS and SPS.

Geography
  • The science of the shape and size of the Earth. Geodetic is the relevant adjective, and a geodetic datum is a set of reference points on the Earth’s surface against which position measurements are made, and (often) an associated model of the shape of Earth to define a geographic coordinate system (K.-T. Chang 2014).
