She is chiefly known for two films which she made during the 1930s; Triumph of the Will (1934) a powerful depiction of the 1934 Nuremberg Nazi Party rallies, and Olympia (1938), a two-part documentary of the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games. She was not a Nazi Party member and insisted on full control over these films, but outside Germany her work was regarded as Nazi propaganda.
