In special relativity, the mass of a particle as measured in its rest frame. A particle of rest mass m₀ has an inertial mass (or relativistic mass) of $m_0/\sqrt{1-v^2/c^2}$ to an observer travelling at speed v relative to the particle. (Here c denotes the speed of light.)
