单词 fugacity
释义
fugacity

Physics
  • Symbol f. A thermodynamic function used in place of partial pressure in reactions involving real gases and mixtures. For a component of a mixture, d(lnf)=dμ‎/RT, where μ‎ is the chemical potential. It has the same units as pressure and the fugacity of a gas is equal to the pressure if the gas is ideal. The fugacity of a liquid or solid is the fugacity of the vapour with which it is in equilibrium. The ratio of the fugacity to the fugacity in some standard state is the activity. For a gas, the standard state is chosen to be the state at which the fugacity is 1. The activity then equals the fugacity.

Chemical Engineering
  • A thermodynamic function that represents a pseudo-pressure in place of the partial pressure of a real gas or gas mixture. The fugacity coefficient for gases is the ratio of the fugacity to the partial pressure. It is therefore equal to 1.0 for an ideal gas. For liquids, the fugacity is the mole fraction of the constituent multiplied by the fugacity of the pure substance at the temperature and pressure of the solution.

Geology and Earth Sciences
  • A measure of the tendency of a gas to escape or expand, used in calculations of chemical equilibrium. Fugacity (fi) is the pressure value needed at a given temperature to make the properties of a non-ideal gas satisfy the equation for an ideal gas, i.e. fi = γ‎iPi, where γ‎i is the fugacity coefficient, and Pi is the partial pressure for the component i of the gas. For an ideal gas, γ‎i = 1.
