At a solar eclipse, the moment at which the trailing (western) limb of the Moon completely uncovers the Sun’s eastern limb, marking the end of the eclipse; or, at a lunar eclipse, the moment at which the Moon’s western limb exits the Earth’s shadow; also known as last contact. The term is also used to describe the end of an eclipse in an eclipsing binary, or the end of a transit.
