An annual or perennial herbaceous plant of the genus Epilobium (family Onagraceae), most with small pink or red flowers. They are quick to colonize disturbed ground, including bombsites, with rosebay willowherb (E. angustifolium) being common on urban waste ground. There are about 175 species found worldwide.
