A spectrum which shows the proportion of sunlight reflected from the surface of a planet, planetary satellite, or asteroid over a range of wavelengths. Various minerals on the surface reflect sunlight in characteristic ways, so the reflectance spectrum of a body provides information about its mineralogical composition.
