释义
radiosonde

Physics
  • A meteorological instrument that measures temperature, pressure, humidity, and winds in the upper atmosphere. It consists of a package of instruments and a radio transmitter attached to a balloon. The data is relayed back to earth by the transmitter. The position of the balloon can be found by radar and from its changes in position the wind velocities can be calculated.

  • A small radio transmitter together with suitable transducers that is carried by a balloon or kite into the upper atmosphere and transmits meteorological and other scientific data to the ground.

Geology and Earth Sciences
  • Instrument, comprising an aneroid barometer and sensors for temperature and humidity, that is carried aloft to the upper atmosphere by a balloon that ascends at about 5 m/s. Data is transmitted to the surface by radio. See also rawinsonde.

Geography
  • A free-flying balloon carrying meteorological instruments. The balloon climbs to a height of 20–30 km above mean sea level, sending information from these sensors to ground stations, whereupon it bursts, returning the equipment to the ground.
