An independent committee at the Bank of England responsible for protecting and enhancing the resilience of the UK financial system by identifying, monitoring, and taking action to remove or reduce systemic risks. It was set up in 2013 as an analogue of the Monetary Policy Committee. The FPC meets quarterly to discuss the developments in the financial system and potential policy intervention. It can issue directions and recommendations to the Financial Conduct Authority and the Prudential Regulation Authority.
