A Canadian satellite mission to monitor the environment, provide data to help manage natural resources, and perform coastal surveillance. RADARSAT-1 was launched on 4 November 1995 and retired on 9 May 2013. RADARSAT-2 was launched on 14 December 2007, from Baikonur, Kazakhstan, into a Sun-synchronous polar orbit at an altitude of 798 km. The RADARSAT Constellation Mission (RCM), complementary of RADARSAT-2 and concentrating on disaster management and ecosystem monitoring, is scheduled for launch in May 2019.
