One of 37 species of birds of prey in the genus Falco (family Falconidae), found worldwide except for Antarctica. Falcons have narrow, tapered wings, which make them highly manoeuvrable and allow them to fly at great speed; peregrine falcons (F. peregrinus) have been recorded diving at 320 km/h.
