A time-independent non-Newtonian fluid, which is shear thinning. The apparent viscosity expressing the ratio of shear stress, τ, to shear rate, γ, decreases with increasing shear rate: where k is a proportionality constant and n has a value between 0 and 1. Examples include polymer melts, paper pulp, wallpaper paste, printing inks, tomato purée, mustard, rubber solutions, and protein concentrations.
