A geological survey of the European continent along a traverse from the North Cape, Norway, to Tunisia with the aim of producing a three-dimensional description of the evolution, nature, structure, physical properties, and dynamics of the continent. The project was proposed in 1980, involved scientists from fourteen countries, and was completed in 1992.
