The idea promoted by W. B. Gallie (1912–98) that some concepts admit of no one authoritative definition, because they are essentially the focus of different accounts, especially different moral attitudes. Concepts of which this is true might include persons, justice, equality, and others about which moral and political disagreement is apt to be endemic.
