An extensive plain on Mars some 3000 km across, centred at approximately +3° lat., 205° W long. Elysium Mons, a volcano 11 km high, lies in eastern Elysium, and Apollinaris Patera, a smaller volcano, lies in the southeast, where it is bordered by the cratered southern uplands of Mars.
