1. A process used to remove the skin of coffee cherries before they are dried. The cherries are immersed in water to separate unripe fruit before pressing. The pulp is fermented to digest the cellulose using large amounts of water. The dry process uses only the juices from the cherries.
2. A process used to produce phosphoric acid from phosphate rock using a strong acid such as sulphuric, nitric, or hydrochloric acid. Sulphuric acid is used to digest tricalcium phosphate mineral rock, apatite, to produce a solution of phosphoric acid and insoluble calcium sulphate. This is then concentrated by evaporation.
