A sequence of absorption or emission lines due to molecular hydrogen. They lie at ultraviolet wavelengths in the range 100–123 nm, the same region of the spectrum as the Lyman series of atomic hydrogen. They are named after their discoverer, the Danish physicist Sven Theodor Werner (1898–1984).
