A type of reciprocating pump that uses a plunger instead of a piston within a cylinder to displace a liquid. They are used as metering pumps and for liquids that may be abrasive since the plunger moves into the cylinder and is clear of the walls. Check valves on the suction and delivery side of the pump ensure that the flow is in the correct direction.
