Any of the protein constituents of blood plasma. They comprise albumins (about 60%), globulins (e.g. antibodies and transport proteins—about 35%), and fibrinogen (about 4%), with the remainder comprising chiefly various enzymes. They are significant contributors to maintaining the osmolarity of blood.
