A constellation of the southern sky, representing a painter’s easel. Its brightest star, Alpha Pictoris, is of magnitude 3.3. Beta Pictoris is surrounded by what may be a planetary system in the process of formation. Pictor contains the fast-moving Kapteyn’s Star.
