A supersonic combustion process in which the reaction front advances into unreacted material with a flame front or shock front and reaction products travelling in the same direction. The resulting blast wave is initially characterized by a very high peak pressure acting over a very short period of time. As the wave travels outwards from the source, the pressure decays.
