The star Alpha Cygni, magnitude 1.25. It is an A2 supergiant with a luminosity 50 000 times the Sun’s. Its distance is about 1400 l.y., making it the most distant of all the first-magnitude stars. It forms one corner of the so-called Summer Triangle of stars.
