The process, unwitting or deliberate, of reversing globalization, of reducing the volume, scale, and velocity of social and environmental interactions. This might entail: producing for domestic markets only; protecting local industries through tariffs; and the replacement of global banks by regional ones. However, Evans (2010) Glob. Economy J. 10, 2, 3 argues that deglobalization in the form of reduced trade interdependence, reduced capital flows, and reduced migration has few positive economic effects, and that politically, deglobalization makes for less stable domestic politics and a greater likelihood of war.
