An acute viral infection, transmitted by the fly Phlebotomus papatosii and characterized by fever, pains in the head and eyes, inflammation of the conjunctiva, leukopenia, and general malaise. Also known as Chitral fever; pappataci fever; sandfly fever; three- day fever.
