Weinberg-Salam theory [`wīn´bǝrg sǝ`läm ´thē·ǝ·rē] PARTICLE PHYSICS A gage theory in which the electromagnetic and weak nuclear interactions are described by a single unifying framework in which both have a characteristic coupling paramenter equal to the fine-structure constant; it predicts the existence of intermediate vector bosons and neutral current interactions. Also known as Salam-Weinberg theory. |
