A combustible, yellow, optically active, semidrying fatty oil obtained from sesame seeds; soluble in ether, benzene, and carbon disulfide, slightly soluble in alcohol; melts at 20-25°C; used in edible food products, such as shortenings, salad oils, and margarine.
