A primary battery in which the electrolyte is a waxy material, such as polyethylene glycol, in which is dissolved a small amount of a salt, such as zinc chloride; the electrodes are frequently made of zinc and manganese dioxide, and the electrolyte is melted and painted on a paper sheet to form the separator.
