ultrasonic camera [¦ǝl·trǝ`sän·ik `kam·rǝ] ELECTRONICS A device which produces a picture display of ultrasonic waves sent through a sample to be inspected or through live tissue; a piezoelectric crystal is used to convert the ultrasonic waves to voltage differences, and the voltage pattern on the crystal modulates the intensity of an electronic beam scanning the crystal; this beam in turn controls the intensity of a beam in a television tube. |
