A liquid-level meter in which the level of a liquid is determined by measurement of some phenomenon associated with this level, such as the buoyancy of a solid partly immersed in the liquid, the pressure at a certain level, the conductance of the liquid, or its absorption of gamma radiation, rather than by direct measurement.
