A wedge-shaped bar attached to the interior wall of a recoil cyclinder of a gun; a rectangular notch in the recoil piston moves over the bar, forming an aperture through which the recoil oil must flow; the aperture decreases during recoil until at the end of recoil it is completely closed, thus stopping the flow of liquid and bringing the recoiling tube to rest.
