| light-distribution photometer [`līt dis·trǝ´byü·shǝn fǝ`täm·ǝd·ǝr] OPTICS A device which measures the luminous intensity of a light source in various directions; the light source is fixed, and a mirror system is rotated about an axis passing through the centers of the light source and a photocell so that the light emitted by the source in any direction perpendicular to this axis is reflected to the photocell.
