单词 | resonance ionization spectroscopy |
释义 | resonance ionization spectroscopy [`rez·ǝn·ǝns ´ī·ǝ·nǝ`zā·shǝn spek`träs·kǝ·pē] SPECTROSCOPY A technique capable of detecting single atoms or molecules of a given element or compound in a gas, in which an atom or molecule in its ground state is excited to a bound state when a photon is absorbed from a laser beam at a very well-controlled wavelength that is resonant with the excitation energy; a second photon removes the excited electron from the atom or molecule, and this electron is then accelerated by an electric field and collides with the gas molecules, creating additional ionization which is detected by a proportional counter.
