A system of communication in which a transmitter scans a photograph, map, or other fixed graphic material and converts the information into signal waves for transmission by wire or radio to a facsimile receiver at a remote point. Also known as fax; phototelegraphy; radiophoto; telephoto; telephotography; wirephoto. 2. A photograph transmitted by radio to a facsimile receiver. Also known as radiophoto.
